This section describes how to configure the Ant Internet Suite (Stand-alone version) for use in a Topcat system.    It applies to Topcat Version 1.4 onwards.   (These instructions have been tested using Ant Internet Suite version 1.29b.)

For advice on using the Server version of the Ant Internet Suite with Topcat click here.

Installation

Install the Ant Internet Suite on a machine with its own hard disc - ie use a machine which boots from its own hard disc rather than a machine booting using Topcat.   Do not attempt to install on a machine booting using Topcat.

Configure the Ant Internet Suite as recommended by Ant/Argonet for LAN use.   Ensure all elements are working before proceeding.   See the documentation which came with the Ant Internet Suite and Paul Vigay's website for more information.

Topcat System

Copy the following applications (or only those you wish to appear) from the Client machine configured above into the ...Topcat.Armboot.Apps folder - where they will then automaticaly appear in Apps:

!AntTerm
!Fresco
!FtpClient
!Ping
!Traceroute

You may also copy over the selected applications within Tools as appropriate.   (Note that !Ping+ does not work with Topcat.)

Do NOT copy the !InetSuite or !InetConfig applications.   In fact if the Topcat client even sees these folders, you will need to re-boot before proceeding.   The principle is to use the Internet stack within Topcat,  rather than the one provided with the Ant Suite, as then configuration is centralised and automatic using DHCP Manager.

Copy !Marcel to the ...Topcat.Armboot.!Boot.Resources directory.

Copy the following Modules from the !System.Modules folder on the machine's hard disc used to install the Ant Inernet Suite above to the ...Topcat.Armboot.!Boot.Resources.!System.Modules folder:

Olesupport
Vprotect

Download the AntPatch (Spark archive) patch, extract and copy into Armboot.

Configuration within Topcat

!Marcel

Logon to the NTServer in Windows as Topcat or user with Administrator privileges.    Grant Everyone change permissions to the following directory and sub-directories:

..Armboot.!Boot.Resources.!Marcel.Resources.Trace

You may wish to insert the server names etc into the file:

Armboot.!Boot.Choices.!MarcelDir.Files.Marcelrc

where they will become the default for all users, but make sure the User. From and User.Name entries are blank - ie "".  For more information see the Paul Vigay's web site.

Using !Fresco or !Marcel from a Topcat Client

In order to run !Fresco or !Marcel, the user must first logon to the server in the normal way.

Then !Fresco can be started in the normal way from Apps.   !Marcel should be run the first time from Apps, but then once the !Marceldir has been created in the user's home directory, the normal method will be to double-click on their own !Marceldir.
