Patch Readme File

This patch should be applied to Topcat version 1.4 only.  It is

not suitable for any other version.

To apply this patch proceed as follows:

1. Logon as user with Administrator rights.
2. If you already have !Sparkplug, proceed to step 5 below.
3. Set the Current directory to the Topcat directory by entering:
        dir lanman::topcat.$
   at the '*' prompt (press F12).
4. Extract !Sparkplug by opening the 'Acorn' folder and double-clicking
   on the Dearch~1/bas file.
5. Use !Sparkplug to open the Patch archive.
6. Set the Copy options to 'Newer' and if desired 'Verbose' and 'Confirm'.
7. Copy all the files from the archive into the Topcat directory, allowing
   files to be overwritten unless you know that you have made modifications
   in a particular file and want to keep the changes.  You will then need
   make a note of any changes you have made and carry them over to the new
   file.
8. After applying this Patch, to enable the new features, it is necessary to delete the
   IDxxxxxxx folders from the 'Armboot.!Boot.Mchconfig' folder.
   (NB all individual client configurations will be lost.)
9. Logon to the NT Server as Topcat or a user with Administrator rights, and run the
   file TcPat.Bat (if provided).  To do this, start a Command Prompt window and change
   directory to where Topcat is installed.   Then enter the command: "TCPAT .\"
   (without the quotes).
10.Patch6 introduced a new folder called: Armboot.TcConfig.Local.  
   The Obey file "Settings" in this folder is executed on boot up.   
   You may place your own * commands into this file to be executed by all clients 
   when they boot up.   Note that you cannot launch desktop applications from
   this file - to do this, place them in your Desktop Boot file.


Below are instructions on enabling/disabling AUN and Access.

AUN
===

AUN has been disabled in this Patch.  To activate AUN then proceed as follows:

1. Locate the 'Loadaun' files in the following folders:

    Armboot.!Boot.Ro310hook.Predesk
    Armboot.!Boot.Ro350hook.Boot.Predesk
    Armboot.!Boot.Ro360hook.Boot.Predesk
    Armboot.!Boot.Ro370hook.Boot.Predesk

Un-comment the line:

    |RMEnsure NetFiler 0.72 RMLoad System:Modules.Network.NetFiler

by removing the '|' character at the start of the line, thus:

    RMEnsure NetFiler 0.72 RMLoad System:Modules.Network.NetFiler

2.In the Startupi and Startuph files located in the 'Armboot.Tcconfig.Internet'
folder, un-comment  the lines associated with AUN - see comment in the files.

3. Delete the Idxxxxxxx folders in the 'Armboot.!Boot.Mchconfig' folder and
re-boot the clients.  (NB all individual client configurations will be lost.)



ACCESS
======

Access has been prepared in this patch, however it has not been enabled.   To enable
Access proceed as follows:

1.In the Startupi and Startuph files located in the 'Armboot.Tcconfig.Internet'
folder, un-comment the lines associated with Access by removing the '|' at the start
of each line - see comment in the files.

2. Delete the 'Startup' file in all the 'Armboot.!Boot.Mchconfig.Idxxxxxx.Internet' 
folders and re-boot the clients.
